Ideas for Spending a Week in Northern Vermont

There are so many things to do, we thought we would help with some ideas. Pick and choose, mix and match, add your own, and plan a great trip to northern Vermont!

Day 1 - Stretch your Legs

  • Visit Moss Glen Falls: The falls are an easy walk from the parking area on Moss Glen Falls Road. Map of the Falls
  • Wander around Stowe Village, with its shops and restaurants.
  • Take a walk or bike ride on the Stowe Rec Path. Rent a bike from a local bikeshop or bring your own. The Rec Path starts in the village behind the white church and continues five miles up the valley.
  • Visit the Stowe Farmers Market on Sundays. The market is in the field next to the Red Barn Shops on the Mountain Road (VT Rte 108) and is also right along the Rec Path.
  • Stowe Mountain Toll Road or Gondola
  • Drive through Smugglers' Notch. Falling rock from the cliffs created dry caves where smugglers hid their goods.
  • Visit art galleries in Jeffersonville.

Day 2 - Explore the Northeast Kingdom

Take a driving tour that takes you north from the inn to the Canadian border and then east into the heart of Vermont's "Northeast Kingdom."

Day 3 - Take to the Water or the Air

Day 4 - Absorb Some History

Day 5 - Explore the Farms & Islands of Northwest Vermont

Take the driving tour to the west from the inn toward Lake Champlain, visiting the islands and upper Champlain Valley.
Sights along the way:

Day 6 - Cheese, Granite and a Golden Dome

Follow the driving tour to the east from the inn then south to Barre and Montpelier.
Sights along the way:

Day 7 - Explore Waterbury & the Mad River Valley

Follow the driving tour to the south from inn.
